Founded at the turn of the millennium, Manduka® has always been a company that put its customers and the environment above all else. As a traditional practice in yoga, these teachers shared these mats with their students and from there the word spread.
Manduka, derived from the Hatha Yoga Pradipika pose, Mandukasana, is named as a tribute to Sterios' yoga mentor, Shandor Remete. The delight he took in hearing the word roll of his tongue helped him solidify the faith he had in his new company. From there the joy has spread to over 35 countries worldwide.

Love everything about it—the color, length and width. I’m a little worried that it’s going to be a little heavy, but I don’t have far to walk with it.

I like it a lot, its much better than the one I was using , my gf's ;), I like the length and width to do yoga and other exercises. That being said, I still find some slipness issues, though it is strong in it's grip game. It may be that I sweat excessively. That and the thickness doesn't seem to be there, I was expecting something much thicker. Overall, I like it, but would want it to be thicker.

I was concerned about the grip of this mat, and there *is* a slight film on it straight out of the box. I washed it with dish soap when it came, which helped. I'll probably do this again soon. *If* I don't have lotion on my hands and my room isn't too hot, then the grip is fine. It's getting grippier the more I practice on it.It's definitely a workhorse of a mat and will last forever, and the long length is nice!
