It's quick and easy to create, making it the perfect go-to meal for keeping your gut happy, and you healthy. Plus, it's vegan and gluten-free, which means it can be enjoyed by everyone!
How to Make This Salad
Jicama — 1 Cup
This is a prebiotic - the food source for the healthy bacteria in your gut.
This is a healthy fat, which helps lower cardiovascular inflammation and cholesterol levels.
Organic Sauerkraut — 1/4 Cup
This is a probiotic - which is the healthy bacteria to put into your gut to keep your immune system strong.
This is an antioxidant and high in Vitamin C.
Virgin Olive Oil — 1.5 Tablespoons
This is a healthy fat that's anti-inflammatory and antioxidant.
- Organic Sea Salt (to taste)
- Chop up the jicama into bite-sized pieces, and put it into your salad bowl.
- Dice the avocado, and add it to the bowl.
- Add the sauerkraut to the bowl.
- Squeeze the lemon, and add the juice to the ingredients in the bowl.
- Add the olive oil to the ingredients in the bowl.
- Add a pinch of salt to taste.
- Mix all of the ingredients together.
What makes this salad so great for gut health? It's a mixture of probiotics, which are the good bacteria to put into your gut to help you stay healthy; and prebiotics, which fuel those probiotics and help them multiply. This combination fills guts with good bacteria to help keep immune systems strong!
It's important to keep our guts healthy because they play a huge role in our overall health. A healthy gut is filled with a diverse collection of good bacteria, which helps prevent various health complications. When this healthy bacteria takes over, there isn't room for bad bacteria. This creates a healthy eco-system in our bodies!
