Jade Yoga™ first launched its brand of yoga mats in 2002, but its true beginnings grew from Jade Industries, Inc., a company selling non-slip rubber mats in the 1970s. With some yogis already using the rug pads as yoga mats, it only made sense for Jade Industries, Inc. to branch off and begin specializing in yoga products.
Following a demonstration from the great B.K.S Iyengar, the problem with most yoga mats became painfully obvious, they were slippery. Not only did it make practicing yoga annoying, but it put the user at risk of injury. Sticking with the parent company's core values of using natural, high-quality materials, Jade Yoga began working fervently in 2000 to address this problem. After some initial testing and sampling, the overwhelming response they received ensured Jade Yoga was on a path to success.
From their tireless efforts, Jade Yoga's "Harmony" line was born, comfortable, non-slip, and all-natural. This is Jade Yoga's mantra, helping yogis find peace with their inner nature, through nature. The development of the world's first "green" yoga mat really happened by accident because they were actually focused on making the best functioning yoga mat. It was just a coincidence that natural rubber provided the best comfort and performance for yogis.
Every day Jade Yoga seizes the opportunity to invent products and reinvent themselves. Never being satisfied with what they have, they continue to push to do bigger and better things. Since their initial launch in 2002, they've gone on to make stability blocks, yoga towels, among other things. This expansion hasn't stopped them from keeping their promise. The mat is great, and as a very slim bony person it provides the perfect amount of cushion for me, and fits well(I’m 6’3). I will say the the grip is a bit underwhelming, though it grips well, my hands are not “locked” in place when sweaty and can slip out. And not that it really matters, but the logo fell off the first day. As an engineer that works with adhesives from time to time, they chose the wrong adhesive for this. I think they would want people to see the logo, right? The poor choice in adhesive gives me little faith that the mat will hold up for the many many years I’d hoped for, but we’ll see. other than that the smell is STRONG and not so pleaseant when new, enough to fill your whole room, but is now fading.. I don’t expect the odor to be a problem long term.

Exactly what I was shopping for outstanding grip extra thick extrawide extra long but not like anybody really notices in the yoga studio ,, it’s heavy caring around About 9 pounds but well worth it !!! I have found keeping this type of Mat out of your car and bringing inside keeps the rubber in the best condition ...When left in the heated car the rubber will begin to dry out !!

This mat is a beast. I'm 6'5" and as an aging former competitive athlete, I wanted extra cushion for my beat up body and needed the space. This mat delivers. I rarely take this to studio classes as it's pretty heavy, but when I do, I'm staking out some necessary space with it. This mat has remained fairly sticky. I wash it with the garden hose and a hand towel and wipe it down regularly with a hand towel and mat spray. No rips or tears or scuffs on it yet.

It took me a couple weeks of class practice to get over the “newness” and beat this thing up a little bit but let me tell you this is the greatest mat of all time! The combination of cushion and support is perfect and the 28” width is exactly what I needed to stretch out. I also love how the texture moves with you, its like practicing on Earth as far as mats go. 🌏🙏😎 Shout to Jade!
